Frankly I don’t know all that much about Andrew Rosborough but with the cracking, audacious pop rock tunes he has under his belt, this talented fellow could quite easily be making the sort of assault on the public consciousness that Lady GaGa would be proud of.
I know he comes from a musical family of some sort and I know he is signed to Horticulture records who released his dazzling album The Umbrella Parade, but honestly right now I don’t need all the details to know that I like what I hear, a whole lot.
His songs are lush and layered with lots of acoustics and a bunch of electronics and even orchestras thrown in to boot; his lyrics are catchy but also really personal and very likely to strike an emotional chord with anyone who hears them.
You could probably file his style somewhere close to that of John Mayer, yet as big a compliment as that is it doesn’t quite do it, Andrew Rosborough has something all of his own, something that when you hear him once you will never not recognise him as long as you live. Now I write that it’s got me to thinking, maybe that’s the mark of a truly great artist, that uniqueness, that immediate recognisability? I don’t know, I guess I’m just musing. One thing I do know though is that Andrew Rosborough is bound for great things.
By the way you can hear his tunes on his Myspace, check it!
