Awesome newish band that have just started getting publicity in the UK. Cracking new album that reminds me somewhat of Hope Of The States and GY! BE (maybe it's a Canadian sound?!).
Checkout the album, The Funeral
Don't tune, just listen!

Can't get enough of them. I chanced upon them thanks to my roomate back in October (birthday present :) ) and I'd been dying to see them since then. Went all the way to Califonia to do it (Coachella music festival) and it was worth every penny. Amazing show. Intense.

Yep this band does rock. I think the song "Rebellion"(lies) from "Funeral" is one of the best songs i've ever heard. Great album. Great band.

yes! arcade fire are absolutely incredible. if you can, find a video of them online... they consist of a group of 7 members who are super excited and go crazy on their instruments. and they're super hip.

so we have the arcade fire... does anyone have anymore recommendations along the same lines, or who sound similar?

Personally, I don't think any bands sound like the Arcade Fire... But if you're looking for some more great Canadian stuff, check out:
Broken Social Scene
Metric
Death From Above 1979
The Decemberists
Stars
The Dears

There are so many more, but this is a good start to the Canada "indie" scene.

Haha whoops I can't believe I wrote The Decemberists as a Canadian band - MY BAD! They are awesome too though. So enjoy all the same.

Yeah the arcade fire rocks. finaly a band that makes good music and doesn't rely on it's rock'n'roll image to get famous. Also, check out NINE MILE. "Terra Cotta" is an excellent track.
